PhD Defence by Niko Myller

16/04/2009 Niko Myller's PhD Defence:
Collaborative Software Visualization for Learning: Theory and Application

I attended a very interesting PhD defence by Niko Myller who looked at the collarorative learning process and its outcomes in the context of introductory computer science education, epecially in learning of programming and data and algorithms.

My aim for attending was simply to see how Nikko was going to deal with the issue of collaboration, how he applied the theory of constructivism being such a difficult animal to deal with, how he would select his samples etcs.

Again, i just wanted to see how UJ and candidates do their defences as this is not a common practice in South African institutions.
