SciFest Symposium - Multidisciplinaty Perspectives on Science and Technology Education

Running parallel to the activities in the sports on the 16th was the SciFest Symposium which was chaired by Prof. Erkki Sutinen

Some of the presentations were by:

Dr. Tuomo Kakkonen , University of Joensuu, and he presented on Semi Automatic Assessment of Student Texts. The gist of this presentation was how qualitative works such as reports, essays etc could be marked by teachers using ICT tools. Semi automation means that both the machine and the teacher mark the work not only the machine.

Dr. Meurig Beynon, University of Warwick, UK. and presentation was on Constructivist Computing? Enriching Experience, Embracing Confusion. He discusses the significant relationship between computer technology and the computer scientist and how they influence other.
